Metro Detroit Athletes
MDA is all about sports—every sport—from popular ones like volleyball, tennis, softball, and soccer, to more obscure ones like parkour, bocce ball, and curling. During the warmer months we're likely to play ultimate, sand volleyball, and a third sport at least every week; as well as bike, skate, and socialize. Below are short films highlighting some of the many sports and activities you could eventually participate in: 2010 Meetup film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy_ql2E6AF8 2009 Meetup film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cv-FuwDJ10 Ice-climbing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iksivGdv1ow&feature=related Polar Bear Plunge and Luge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSZ8HJG9kXk During the colder months we're all about skiing/snowboarding, XC skiing, ice climbing and skating; as well as indoor sports/activities such as volleyball, wallyball, whirlyball, go-karts, and skating. But this group is also about much more then nonstop athletic activities (which, by the way, are almost always open to beginners); we go skydiving and hand gliding, take helicopter and small aircraft lessons, play poker, board, and video games, and socialize at meet 'n greets, parties, and clubs. My goal was to a create group centered not only on sports, but good times of all kinds. It's basically one-stop shopping for almost all of your entertainment needs. We've been the largest sports group in MI for over a year but, with potentially cool people like you joining us, we hope to reach 2000 members in 2011.

Michigan for Ron Paul 2012
In 2008 this was the fifth largest Ron Paul meetup! The focus of this group was rediredted to the non-partisan Campaign for Liberty when Dr. Paul stopped being a presidential candidate. This is why I find it appropriate to retask this Meetup Group to it's original purpose: Making the best defender of liberty in the federal government into the President of these United States of America. Please visit: http://www.ronpaul2012.com This may again be the hub of all Michigan Ron Paul Meet-ups. As organizer, I ask that all Michigan supporters, including those in faraway Meet-ups, please also join this group, as we release important statewide messages from time to time. Many people dropped out because they were over-wellmed with emails in their inboxes. Out of respect for those have have remained involved, and the many new members to join (in the next several months) Please only email the group with messages of concern to the whole meetup. Otherwise email individuals. Also, all members should become familiar with their account settings; members can limit emails to "Daily Digests" or block them entirely. Disclaimer: This is not an affiliate of Ron Paul 2012 or Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty. We are a group of like-minded (most of the time) people working for liberty in our time, and a Ron Paul Presidency would be a step in that direction.

Royal Oak Area Runners (ROAR)
We are a friendly group of people that enjoy running and being social. Most of our runs are on Tuesday 6:45 PM at the Royal Oak Library (1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles, or 5 miles), Thursday 7:00 PM at Westborn Market (4 or 6 miles) , and Saturday and the Royal Oak Library 9:00 AM (1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles, 5 miles, Long Runs). Our members use the discussion board to schedule additional runs. We have runners preparing for races at almost all distances and some that only run for fun. We are start as a group and finish in the same spot so there is plenty of time to socialize. We don't really run as one large group. Usually, everyone finds someone to partner off with and run with. It sort of happens organically. You have to come a few times to really see how it works and sort of just "trust" the process. You'll end up with different people on different days. Our runners have a variety of paces. We don't do time trials, but you will easily find people to run 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 minute miles. It doesn't cost anything to join, so feel free to signup and take a look around our page to determine if our group will work for you. We look forward to running with you soon.

GOT-MICHIGAN (Get Out There Michigan)
Get-Out-There Michigan! (GOT-MICHIGAN) This group is intended for everyone living in, visiting, or nearby Michigan to "Get-Out-There" and enjoy all Michigan has to offer both with new and old friends! www.GotMichigan.org 248-266-1-GOT It is not a group for any specific interest, it is for all interests! The events this group hosts are left open for members to suggest and decide! There are so many great things to do in Michigan right in our backyard, we just need a good excuse to "Get-Out-There" Michigan and do it! Who schedules the events? Between the group organizers and the group itself, new meetups will be scheduled. It is important for the group that members post suggested meetups to the site. This one group can cater to many different interests, which is why it is important for us to take member suggestions into consideration for organizing new events! Once new events are suggested/created, they will be posted GOTMichigan.org and you will automatically receive a notification of a new scheduled event. You can schedule and host your own GOTMichigan.org event on our site by clicking "Suggest a Meetup" on the main page. What do we do?...One group fits all! So you ask...what type of events does this group cater to?...EVERYTHING you can think of! It is up to the members to suggest and make this a great group. Your ideas are key to the group success. Sport events Volunteer Events Camping Canoeing Bowling Comedy clubs Nature Hiking Kayaking Skiing Snowmobiling Ice skating Great Lakes Apple orchards Corn mazes Art fairs Family events and so much more that needs to be explored and suggested by YOU! EVERYONE is welcome to join this group The group intentions are to build a group of great people who want to Get-Out-There and enjoy things to do in and nearby Michigan. While many members are in their 20's to 40's, all ages are welcome in this group. There is no restriction on your situation Couples, singles, married, friends, animals, whatever...whoever! You are not expected to come to all of the meetups scheduled on this group, only those that interest you! Donations It is FREE to join the group...however we do ask that everyone pitches in a $5 annual donation to cover the costs for the meetup.com fees that we incur plus other associated fees with various activities we host. YOUR DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Never done the Online Social Meeting thing? The whole goal of this group is to build a group of friends and acquaintances to have fun, but...if a weirdo creeper member ever enters the mix it could be odd. If there is any point where anyone is making you feel odd or uncomfortable, you should know that you can tell anyone on the leadership team for the group and we'll nip that in the butt right away. It's just all about meeting new people, making new friends, and having fun. You should never feel uncomfortable, so let us know if that happens! The Invitation is Open, now it's up to you to Get-Out-There Michigan and have some fun! We warmly welcome you to join this group! Whether you are looking on making new friends, or just want to bring some old friends along with you to the events we schedule...ALL are welcome! When you decide to join us we hope to see you at the activities scheduled that interest you! We look forward to having you as a part of a group of great people! If you made it to the end of this...Thank you...if you didn't...still Thank you, because you probably wanted to join before even getting to the end! :-)

Michigan Tennis Group
This meetup has been organized to provide all levels of tennis players an opportunity to drop-in and play doubles or singles once a week. We typically have a court or two for beginners (or rusty racquets who haven't played in a while), a couple of courts for intermediate and a couple of courts for advanced players. The approach is fairly relaxed. You can choose to rally/practice the entire time or actually games and sets. It's entirely up to you and the people on your court. You also have the option of switching courts so that you can play with different people and/or different levels. You don't have to commit to playing weekly and there are no set fees. Although not mandatory, a contiribution of $1 for each tennis meetup you attend is suggested in order to offset the cost of the web site. We ask that you arrive within the first 15 minutes in order to organize the courts more efficiently. You can, however, leave whenever you like. Some die hards play until dusk and others opt to warm up our usual table at Dick O' Dows. You are welcome to go there afterward for a snack and a friendly drink, or opt-out if you choose. Hope to see you on the courts soon!! Affaf

Beer Snobs of Michigan
Michigan is bursting at the seams with 90+ Microbreweries. everyone that I have tried has been better and better. I know there are people out there that appreciate good beer as much as I do so I started this group to begin sharing these Microbrewery trips with others. I am located on the east side of the state, but I would love to have this group plan day trips to the west side and up north to some of the other areas as well. You should join this group if you enjoy trying new things, specifically great beer, and enjoying it with a great group of people. You should NOT join this group if your idea of good beer is the "silver bullet" or "king of beers".

Unhide - (Comfortable and anxiety-free socialization)
This group is all about making the steps from being online to meeting in person. Often, the greatest hurdle in getting started with Meetup is going out to meet a bunch of new people. For many of us, we are intimidated by the idea of meeting a bunch of strangers. Many of us end up standing by ourselves at social events because we just don't feel comfortable "mingling," either because we are shy or anxious, or we just don't know how to join in on conversations. This Meetup group will provide the necessary practice to feel empowered to get out there and meet others. It is my hope that the discomfort of in-person socialization will be minimized, and the members will feel free to "unhide." As a result, it could lead to lasting friendships and a lot of fun! This group is all about opportunities to take those steps to making friends and creating social connections in a safe environment without intimidation. It's to help bridge the gap between the online experience and the in-person social experience. This group is intended solely for socialization and positive experiences. You deserve to have positive, supportive relationships. This group may just help you create these for yourself.

The Detroit Area Tarot Guild was formed to provide a welcoming community for ALL Tarot enthusiasts, whether you are "just a beginner" or a 30 year veteran of Tarot. This grassroots group is a place to get together with others who share your interest. Tarot celebrities such as Mary K. Greer (author of many Tarot bestsellers, such as 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card), and Ciro Marchetti (creator of the Gilded Tarot, Tarot of Dreams, and Legacy of the Divine Tarot) have agreed to join us at future meetings via teleconference, so this promises to be an exciting way to learn from the experts as well as our peers.

SE Michigan Asperger Support Group
I encourage you to join this support group if you, your child, family member, or spouse have Asperger's Syndrome. If you're someone who works regularly with children on the spectrum and wish to learn more, this is the group for you as well. I'm the parent of two teen boys (16 and 18) and a husband of 21 years, all of whom have Asperger's. I wish to share my knowledge, trials, and tribulations with those who join. Also, I'd like my members to share their knowledge of being on the spectrum. Parents and spouses (such as myself) certainly need understanding, guidance and knowledge of what it's like being the mother/spouse of one with Asperger's. Children are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend, which is to help them establish a peer group and, hopefully, make and maintain new friends. My two teens will also be in attendance occasionally, sharing their insight and experience as teens on the spectrum. However, I recommend that if you have a child on the spectrum under the age of 10, that they not attend meetings, as we don't have any very young children in attendance. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this issue. With this group, I can help provide you with my at least 15+ years dealing with the ups and downs of having a child or spouse with Asperger's, as well as going through IEPs and helping you advocate for your child. The members of this group also have insight and knowledge that can really help those of us not on the spectrum understand. This is the group for you to gain understanding and insight, as well as empathy to those with Asperger's Syndrome. A monthy Youth Group is also part of our schedule, with several successful outings already. Please see the schedule for information and dates, or contact Renee' for more information. On occasion, we will have guest speakers and seminars. More authors and speakers are in the works, and further information will be provided when the time comes. Please join us for support, information, and insight from those who knows what you're going through. Let this group comfort and guide you as you and yours travel on this journey called living with Asperger's Syndrome.

The Camp Bow Wow Scampers
Bring your pup to meet his new best friends and you might just meet yours too! Dog-people are the best, as you already know, and few things inspire instant joy like watching happy dogs play. What could be better than good company & getting out with your dog? We will relax, socialize, and let our pups run free and play! Come enjoy our lovely park. It's fully-fenced (4 feet at lowest point), with woodchips (no mudslides!) and is about an acre in size. There is a special play area for small dogs if needed, but the little guys are free to join the general group if they're comfortable. We also have a picnic table and canopy, for weather relief. We will have occasional guests who specialize in stuff dog lovers really care about. And we will go on field trips, attending dog-friendly events outside of our park. Suggestions are welcome. To keep our playtime safe, we require dogs to pass a temperament test prior to attending a Scampers Meetup. To do this, schedule a FREE trial day of daycamp at any Camp Bow Wow location. Visit www.campbowwow.com for locations and contact information.

AVATAR: Aboriginal Ecstatic Dance Healing of Wild Shamanism
Welcome to "AVATAR: The Aboriginal Ecstatic Dance Healing of Wild Shamanism". Through it's beautiful metaphor, the movie AVATAR brings home, most powerfully, the original ways of relating to spirit through ecstatic dance rituals of community healing. "WILD SHAMANISM" is the term which refers to this root core of spirituality from the "Human Wild" of Prehistory. To experience and learn the true ritual forms, visit our meetup and immerse yourself in the most powerful healing vibration that has ever existed ---simply because it's he purest of all spiritual expressions ("The Source Waters are always the purest!") We meet on the last Saturday of each month in Southfield, MI. at a beautiful residence that opens into a peaceful woods. In the woods is where we dance around the fire (when it's warm) to the drumbeat (live drumming provided), or else dance inside a large, nice and cozy living room. And now, please, allow the healthy human animal within you to escape from the modern artificial zoo that now surrounds us. Immerse yourself in the original form of Energy Healing through Trance Dance. Settle back, return to the quiet "Now" of the original forest, and experience: A PREHISTORIC PRAYER FROM THE FIRST SHAMANS TO GOD THE FATHER AND GOD THE MOTHER (modern prayer based on the earliest known of the San Bushman traditions ---also a "primer" for original human spiritual thinking) OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, Thou hold the eternal moment's possibility for Creation. OUR MOTHER, THOU ART CREATION'S FINAL BIRTH-GIVER. Together, You bring forth All That Is. Your Divine lovemaking moves passionately in joy, breathing life throughout the forest world and spurring on our own arrival as flowers of love and joy. So that we may bear witness to the sublime beauty of all Creation, You offer the rainbow bridge between Earth and Sky as a special gift of continuing love and connection. PRAISE TO OUR DIVINE PARENTS! Oh Dear GOHA, protect us. As FATHER SKY, You are transcendent to all being. You watch over our most ancient ancestors living with You on high, while watching over the rest of us on the Earth below. Your life-giving waters shower down upon us, making grow the wild plants our gatherers bring home each day for our sustenance. Oh Dear KO, nurture us. As MOTHER EARTH, You are the ground of all being. Shining white like the full Moon and bringing the skill and luck of the hunting Mantis, You rise up from the ground to entrance our hunters. The thrill of Your touch steadies their aim to deliver us our daily meat. Then, You rouse our drums and make our voices soar as we begin the healing dance. Praise to You both for assuring that the flow of NUM, the one supreme "source energy", will continue to nurture us and "everything that is". In deep reverence, we promise to remain in the forest of our original Eden, forever sharing it with all living things as Your equally loved children. Help us, in turn, to joyfully honor and love our own children, our parents, all our ancestors who once were, and all the souls yet to be. With the innocent eyes of a child coming as pure as from the womb, let us stand naked before You. Let us always be as both wise children and as playful elders. Help us to remain gentle and kind through the guiding light of Your divine goodness. Despite the darkness that sometimes surrounds us, know that DARKNESS IS OF THE FOREST AND SO DARKNESS, TOO, MUST BE GOOD. THY WILL BE DONE. LET US BECOME INSTRUMENTS OF YOUR DIVINE MUSIC and, in avoiding all discord, let us assure our instruments remain well tuned. HEALING MAKES OUR HEARTS HAPPY! Let us feel the Num energy boiling up within us as we sing, dance, and drum in cel¬ebration of both Your names. Let us so delight in Your Divine Love that we begin to writhe and shake in the ecstatic joy of KIA. At that moment, the NUM flows through us and then outwards beyond us, healing our entire tribal family of STAR SICKNESS: a solitary sadness that is the source of all pain and hurt. Finally, let us fall to the ground in peace and gratitude to begin the sacred dream of CUNKURI. In these ways, dear FATHER GOHA, keep our thoughts inspired, rising high in the heavenly sky. And, dear MOTHER KO, keep our feelings tender, remaining deeply rooted to the Earth. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. AMEN.

One Brick Detroit- RSVP @ http://detroit.onebrick.org
Are you interested in meeting new people, socializing, and helping out those in need all at the same time? If so, come join us and be a part of an amazing new volunteer group in the Metropolitan Area! Detroit has a need and we want to help fill it. If you are a volunteer-minded adult, you will find what you want in our group. From food banks, planting, clean-ups, and galas, to working with youth, you will find something that fits your abilities. The beauty of our group is that you may choose from committing to one event, to committing to all events; it is your choice! Volunteer events will be scheduled throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area. Join us and let's get this party started! Looking forward to meeting you! RSVP procedures: There has been some confusion due to our ongoing transition to the new One Brick website. On the Meetup site, all events will now say "closed," as we are in the process of switching over to the official One Brick site, http://detroit.onebri... . Some of the events currently listed on the Meetup site have RSVPs listed, but these were from before we started the switch. In the future, as the previously listed events (with RSVPs) pass, there will be no RSVP's reflected on the Meetup site. If you go to http://detroit.onebri... , you will be able to create a profile and RSVP there. Future RSVPs will no longer be reflected on the Meetup site, all RSVPs MUST be done at http://detroit.onebri... . Just because the events say "closed" on Meetup, that DOES NOT mean they are full. You must check at http://detroit.onebri... . to see if an event is full.

WORKING TOGETHER INDEPENDENTLY
Help me build the largest network of entrepreneurs and sales people working together. I am looking for one person from each Zip Code in the US to join my network. Are you an an entrepreneur or sales person? Let's join forces and work together independently. Here is my idea. Entrepreneurs each have his/her own interest in promoting themselves, businesses, or ideas. Why not promote one another under one url name? Each entrepreneur would have his/her own profile page listing their products or services. By promoting yourself, you are promoting the entire network. Furthermore, there will be a point system that will encourage the sharing of leads. Entrepreneurs will share sales leads with other entrepreneurs to receive leads from yet other entrepreneurs (A point system is currently under development to govern the exchanges of the leads). Essentially, each entrepreneur would have a national marketing arm stretching across the entire the US. BuiBase entrepreneurs work together in terms of Sales and Marketing, where each Entrepreneur benefits from his/her own business venture. Together, we will have the marketing strength of a large corporation. Join our network today to find out more: http://buibase.com USE INVITATION CODE " 48309" - Dan

Warren Astronomical Society
"Amateur" is not an insult. An amateur astronomer is someone who learns the skies, learns how to observe or photograph the incomprehensibly distant and huge objects out there, learns about cosmology, and shares this knowledge with others - not because it's a paid occupation, not for recognition or praise, but because we love it. The Warren Astronomical Society (http://www.warrenastro.org) meets twice monthly to share presentations about astronomy: observations, science, and history. There's a monthly discussion group that covers all sorts of topics (astronomical and otherwise). And, of course, there are observing sessions: one to two public open houses per month and many informal members-only observing nights at our observatory, Stargate. Whether you're an experienced stargazer or need help learning your telescope, you're sure to find somebody to talk to. Members have the opportunity to check out telescopes and other equipment with a minimal deposit. If you're interested in getting into astronomy but don't know what sort of telescope you'd like, a risk-free trial can be a great help. Attend an event and find out just how much a committed amateur can do.

The goal of the group is to meet new friends, go out with the girls, and participate in a multitude of activities. All relationship statuses are welcome those who are single, coupled, engaged, married, or recently broken up are encouraged to join! I would love if members of the group used this site as a tool to plan their own Meetups. If you're going to dinner and want some company, post here. If there's a new movie out and you have no one to go with and don't want to go alone, post here. I would rather have a smaller group of girls who were active participants in planning and going to Meetups than thousands of members who never meet. Some Meetups can be bigger events and others can be just 2-3 people.

Improvisation...Alive in the Moment :) :(
Work with experienced theatre professional doing improvisation techniques and games. All levels of interest/ability are invited. The beginning actor can improve his/her skills; an experienced actor can hone his. Everybody welcome. (It's really not hard- give it a try) Improvisational skills impact all areas of life. Improvisation is played as a game or exercise, and can also provide valuable "in the moment" skills for the actor. All stage work must remain fresh and new each night. In every performance an actor makes discoveries that cannot be anticipated. One must listen and react authentically. If an actor steps outside of the "moment" he/she becomes self-conscious and loses focus. Improvisation is immediate. One cannot know what is going to happen next; one does not know what to expect. Working with this technique allows an actor to let go of preconceived expectations, for there are no scripts, no rehearsals. Laura Gumina has worked in the theatre for over 35 years, and also teaches. She will guide us through the learning and participation process. This is great fun. And there's no "wrong answer", there is no "wrong way" to do improvisation. Essex County Drum Circles
Our purpose is to gather and drum. Our purpose is to listen and support the rhythm. Our purpose is to heal ourselves and the community. Our purpose is to promote this phenomenon of Drum Circles. No experience necessary. Instruments available to share. All are welcome. Please read and comply with the drum circle rules and philosophy (found in the "about us" section). The drums will not tolerate ridicule/bullying or harassment, you will be asked to leave and not allowed to come back. FEE: We are requesting in kindness $10 to $40 for each session. This is on a sliding scale, consider your hourly wage and round up as a starting point. We will be collecting money at the beginning of each circle, so please be prepared to make your offering. (unless you paid with PayPal when RSVP'ing) If an event is explicitly announced as a free event, we will not charge. As drummers we can affect powerful change in the community and the world. A full half of the proceeds will go to charity and remainder to operations costs. (Look up Diamond Cutter Sutras, thanks Geshe Michael Roach.) Take a moment to consider, the state of your: body, mind and spirit before, during and after drumming. Does this have value? What would happen if we didn't have these places to meet and drum. Thank you for allowing these deeply profound experiences to happen. Click the "About Us" section to see information on PRIVATE DRUM CIRCLES AND LESSONS. Keep it STEADY and EVEN. N.

Livonia Walks
Walking for fun and fitness! We'll try and have a variety of walks in the Livonia, Plymouth, Novi and Farmington areas. Welcome! I'm looking for people to go walking and hiking with in the Livonia, Farmington, Novi and Plymouth areas. I'd like to do a variety of walks from parks to neighborhood areas. Let's hear some of your ideas and start walking!! We will also host other activities too such as: cycling, kayaking, dinner nights and picnics. The limits of what we do are only limited by our imaginations! The legal bit...Keep in mind that you will be participating in walks and all activities at your own risk. You are solely responsible for your health and fitness levels and ensuring you are up for taking a walk. I will try to access how "difficult" a walking route is, but I am not a fitness trainer or professional "walker". I'm just someone like many of you wanting to go on a social outing and get some exercise. In joining Livonia Walks you are doing so at your own risk and the responsibility is yours alone when participating in walks. I do encourage you all to bring the following on the walks: water, sunscreen, hat and good study shoes.

Recovery International Self-Help Meeting, Royal Oak, MI
Founded in 1937, Recovery International meetings are dedicated to the teaching and practicing of the cognitive behavioural methods and tools developed by the late Dr. Abraham Low, M.D. These methods are not based on specific mental health diagnoses, but rather are used to combat the symptoms that interfere with daily life. Dr. Low's methods are effective in dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, fear, panic, self isolation, and disturbing thoughts and impulses. Our basic tenets are that any thought can be removed from our brain, any feeling or sensation can be patiently borne until it passes, any impulse can be controlled, and muscles can be commanded to perform any action. But changing deep seated beliefs and habits takes practice and support. Recovery International meetings provide a place to learn and practice the tools, to gain hope by seeing how the tools have helped other members, and to gain feedback as you work to apply the tools to your own life. Recovery International meetings use a structured format to keep us on task so that each meeting moves us closer to our goals. We are not a social club, but time at the end of every meeting is reserved for informal group support. Successful mastery of Dr. Low's method is accomplished through applying the tools to situations in daily life, regular attendance at Recovery International meetings to gain feedback, and self study of the method. Abraham Low Self Help Systems is a non-profit organization that makes Dr. Low's methods available through a variety of programs, such as Recovery International. The Recovery International meeting format is available locally through meetings in South East Michigan as well as national telephone meetings, on-line forums, and on-line chat sessions. Recovery International meetings are peer lead by members who have been helped by the method, attended training in Chicago and volunteer their time to make the method available to others. Recovery International meetings are supported through donations and there is no charge to attend any of the meetings. We do ask that you make the effort to attend at least one meeting per month and that if you are no longer interested, you remove yourself from the group (you are welcome to rejoin any time when you are ready). We ask this so that we can avoid having an over abundance of inactive members. Please feel free to contact us with any questions/concerns/suggestions. Also, we ask that you avoid using this group for self or company promotion. If there is an event or business that you believe may be relevant or helpful to our members, please contact an organizer for permission before posting any links. Finally, please do not post personal information, this is for your own protection. Thanks for your help in keeping this meetup group relevant and safe for all members. Metro Detroit Smart Eaters
THE REASON: This group was founded on the assumption that I’m not the only omnivore in the Metro Detroit area who wants to be a smart eater and enjoys shared food and good conversation. I’ve been a “better then average” eater most of my life, but it wasn’t until reading two great books by Michael Pollan, In Defense of Food and The Omnivore’s Dilemma, that I fully realized just how terrible the “American diet” is for us, the land, and for animals. I want to do my part to change that. THE FUNCTION: The three main functions of this group are to facilitate smart eating though healthy dinner parties, to share food from each other’s home gardens, and to share our own personal knowledge about food with each other. There is also a very good chance you’ll make some great new friends along the way, but that’s just a bonus! THE RULES: This group is for anyone who cares about food; from how it’s produced, to how it affects one’s body. One doesn’t need to have a garden, throw dinner parties, or have any prior knowledge of healthy eating, only the desire to improve. I am not personally a vegan or vegetarian, but would be happy to sit down to a vegan or vegetarian dinner party if that is the host’s decision. Whoever decides to host a dinner party will dictate the specific rules for that event, food related and other, in order to feel comfortable. The foods that we will avoid completely at dinner parties are corn-fed and tortured animals (specifically cows and farmed fish) and processed food. Other goals and rules will be dictated by the dinner party host or hostess.

The 20-30's Metro Detroit Black Social Group
Hello everyone! I decided to start this group for several reasons but the main reason is to meet more people and to do fun and mature activities. I was in several meetup groups when I lived in Atlanta and met some wonderful people while doing some great things. Since I've moved back to Metro Detroit, I've heard the same thing over and over: "there isn't anything to do". My goal is to prove that there are things to do, not only in Detroit but the surrounding areas as well. This group is for the mature 20-30's crowd. Some of our various activities will include game nights, bowling, poetry reading, dinners, volunteering, wine tasting and much more. My goal is to create a group that caters to it's members. So if there are any activities that you all would like to do, feel free to let me know. This wouldn't be the great group that it is if it wasn't for our members and their suggestions. Feel free to take a look around; view our members, our ratings and calendar. I hope that you find that this group is something that you are interested in and will join. If you do, please take a look at the policy and procedures page and schedule yourself for a meetup! Hope to see you soon! Royale

Your Wish Is Your Command Law of Attraction Mastermind Group
Are you one of those people that have a desire to make changes in your life but you don't feel like you have enough time? Desire, positive thinking, even being happy, doesn't replace the moment when you need to take action. But I'm too busy, I'm too overwhelmed with other things to do….. If there was a process that could give you that breakthrough to whatever your heart desires, - more money, better health, or greater love, could you find 20 minutes a day? Progress always involves risk. "You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first." – F.B. Wilcox Have you heard of something called the law of attraction? Have you read the book or seen the DVD, "The Secret"? My name is David Krueger. I am a member of an elite, members only, club that grants its members access to secret inside information and training as well as access to opportunities that no one else has access to. This club was created by 30 members of secret societies like the Brotherhood, Skull and Bones, The Trilateral Commission, and the Freemasons, to create a group where the average person could if they choose, have access to the same inside information as the worlds elite. This is being done to empower everyone to be better people and to stem the tide of evil. It is my intention with this meetup group, to create a local mastermind group that can meet, discuss the teaching that go far beyond the law of attraction and build each other up. That will create a powerful mastermind effect for each and every one of us. What that means is to create a group of people who have big dreams and goals in their life and are also desiring to be surrounded by others who aspire to achieve whatever they choose to be, do, or have in their life. Now for Starters, let's put some powerful information in your hands that will change your life forever: A famous billionaire, gave a two day lecture at an exclusive chateau in the swiss alps where he outlined the basic procedure on how to be, do or have anything you want. It is this lecture, this priceless information that I want to share with you. I have a limited number of cd recordings of this lecture that I am willing to lend to individuals who are serious about improving their lives and themselves and experiencing a life they never thought possible. I have a limited number of these cd sets. When you come to the meeting, I will lend you a set for a week or so. It will change your life! David

Killer Android
I'm a computer programmer. I'm also an avid Android user (I once thought I lost my Nexus One and saw my whole life flash before me). I've been wanting to learn how to program for Android for quite some time. So, I started this group as an incentive to get beyond the Hello World Android app. Hopefully, others are interested in getting together regularly to learn Android development. Who knows? Maybe we'll eventually be able to create the next killer Android app. All you really need to join this group is an enthusiastic attitude toward Android development and at least a little programming (Java, preferably) experience. As much as I would love to teach programming basics to others, there's just not enough time.

Rochester Linux and Unix Associates and Enthusiasts
I wanted to bring together fellow *nix (pronounced 'asternix'; shorthand for Linux and Unix) professionals and enthusiasts, for the purpose of networking with like individuals in northern metropolitan Detroit. Besides the inherent networking benefit, this group will server to become an incubator for ideas related to *nix, a forum for sharing knowledge, a pool of talent, and as a springboard for launching new businesses. Many people involved in Linux feel this is a large growth area and therefore there will be many opportunities for new ideas and business ventures, as related to *nix. Although the growth area is expected to be in Linux vs. Unix, I include Unix because of the transferable skills and the similarity between the two areas. Professionals in this field as well as those interested in becoming part of this booming area in the tech field are encouraged to join. Check the Meetups tab for upcoming meetings and RSVP so that we may anticipate your participation. Look for a Linux Penguin and a placard with "Linux Users Group" on the meetup table. Feel free to browse the "Discussions" tab for various discussions, impromptu meetups, job postings, etc., and feel free to start your own discussion. Welcome Aboard!

The Detroit Grassroots Atheism Project
The Detroit Grassroots Atheism Project (DGAP) has the primary goal of raising awareness about atheism and atheists through direct interaction with the public that we call "street teaching". Project volunteers provide literature and a point of contact between the public and the atheist community. Through this interaction we clear up the common and uncommon misunderstandings about atheism and inform people about what is atheism.

Just Us Sisters Together ( JUST )
Why should you join my MeetUp group??? I envision a group that women, and occasionally their families, can join together and have some fun. I'm not really a club person unless there is something specific going on--comedy, lessons, etc. I believe there are several opportunities to have fun in the Metro Detroit Area at every turn. We will do a variety of activities, so feel free to share any ideas you have. I would like to schedule at least 1 activity a month. I would like this group to like a tree. We will have a strong foundation and several branches. We will have a core group, but within that group there can be other groups. Women who like Bingo, plays, exercise, can always schedule it and whoever wants to join may do so. There will always be something going on and you will always be able to find someone to accompany you. We will be having big group meetings every three months. So come join the group and gives us a 60 day probation. I know you will find people and activities you like! Anyone with children is welcome to join our sister meetup group-- HUGS & KISS ( Helping Us Grow Stronger and Kids In Social Settings). We have great things for them to do, also!!

Real People - Real Food
This is all very simple - just get back to the basics! The problem is that we have gotten so far off track, many have no idea what the "basics" are. The main objective of this group is to introduce those basics in such a way that will enliven both your life and your taste buds. This will be a hands-on group. No boring lectures, no preaching, although snippets of relevant information will be forth-coming on a monthly basis, as well as LOTS of fantastic food! This is the beginning of a new decade - let's make it a healthy one. Please join us as we enjoy eating real food with real people!

The Film Society
The Film Society is a group based in Oakland County that is dedicated to the experience and discussion of films on the big screen. We have a broad appreciation for films as an artistic medium, and we like to see films of different genres. We also enjoy the social experience of meeting to see and discuss films. We always go out for coffee after the movie to sit and talk about what we just saw. What about the film did we like and why? What were the weak points? What director or actor has us pleasantly surprised, or perhaps underwhelmed? Our group has been active on Facebook for over a year and we have just decided to branch out to meetup.com. Theaters we visit most frequently: Main Art in Royal Oak, The Birmingham 8 and The Palladium in Birmingham, Maple Art in Bloomfield Hills, Emagine Rochester Hills , Emagine Royal Oak, Emagine Novi. If you love films, we would love to have you join us.

Detroitnet.org: Detroit Networking Events: IT Industry
Detroitnet.org was started by IT professionals for IT professionals. We didn't like any other group out there, so we started our own! At our events, you might meet some recruiters, some out of work developers, some sales guys, some network admins, some web guys and some senior level management... So come on out, bring some business cards (or don't, it's OK), meet some like-minded people in the Metro Detroit area, and who knows, you could meet a life-long friend, a new business partner, or no one at all...it's what you make of it that makes Detroitnet.org great. As always, we are networking Detroit, one beer at a time.
